FE 6th Form

Sixth Form - Further Education (FE)

The Bridge School Further Education Department (FE) opened in September 2016 to extend the age range of the school from 3-16 years to 3-19 years.  Initially we are able to provide 8 places with this being increased to 16 in 2017 and then reaching 24 places in 3 groups in September 2018.

Students entering Key Stage 5 will have been admitted to the school by the Local Authority.  These students will have a diagnosis of complex autism, severe challenging behaviour and sensory processing difficulties.

The focus for learning in Key Stage 5 is very much on preparation for adulthood and life after school.  Students will engage in a three year programme of study designed to equip them with skills for life.  Developing independence in social skills including; shopping, cooking self-care, household skills and communication are important areas of learning for our FE students.

Our Further Education (FE) students follow a Foundation Learning and work related learning curriculum which is designed to develop their independence skills and preparation for adulthood and life after school.

Not all students at The Bridge meet the criteria for the FE at The Bridge  and at the end of Key Stage 4 they will move onto other providers.  During Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to take part in a carousel of visits to One, Suffolk New College and Otley college.  For some of our students a tailor made package at WS Training is a more appropriate route.  Below  are links to some of the providers and relevant information regarding Post 16 provision available for students once they have completed Key stage 4 at The Bridge School.
