Friends of The Bridge is a Registered Charity, formed in 1984 to raise funds for equipment and activities to further enrich the pupils experience at the school. The uncertainties of the past few years have made it difficult identify specific fundraising targets and the charity has been fairly inactive. Now however, with the future of the school having become established, with a new fundraising team of parents, staff and governors and with demand for places at the school ever growing, the charity has a renewed sense of purpose. We are actively pursuing a programme of fundraising events in the local community as well as seeking support from carefully selected charitable funders and commercial sponsors.
The Bridge School is a special school for children with severe and profound learning difficulties. Many children also have a diagnosis of autism. Being able to access the community is an essential part of the curriculum and we desperately need to replace one of our aging minibuses so the children can continue to make visits out from school. We are currently fund raising to raise £40,000 to purchase a new mini bus.
If you would like further information or are able to help please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are continuing our fund raising for the new mini bus and as you know we have had several very successful Quiz nights in the past, the last one raised £455.10! We are therefore planning another one on Friday 17th March, St Patricks Day. As before it will be for teams of 6 (£15 per team) with a prompt 7 pm start. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles!
If you would like a form to put in a team or happy to attend and join up with others to make a team please contact Marie in the office. Please return forms and money by Friday 10th March. If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute a raffle prize please send it via the school
Sponsored Cycle Event
We are pleased to announce that we are currently in talks with Draintek, who are going to provide team kits sponsorship for a cycle ride from The Bridge School to Glasgow in June, stopping at some Special Schools on route. Joe Lees, Father of Matilda in Green Class, who had hoped to do a similar trip last year had to cancel it due to ill health will take part with five other riders. We are hoping that we can gain national publicity as they visit the schools on their route!
Gift Aid Form
If you have a UK Income tax payer in your household (that is income tax, not council tax) please ask them to complete the attached form and return it to the school, as this will enable us to claim back 25p for each £1 donated by your family. This might not seem a lot but every little helps!
