The Primary School accepts children aged between three and eleven years of age.
Admission to the Nursery is determined by the Local Authority. Children can enter the Nursery at The Bridge School in the term after their third birthday and many have a dual placement with a pre-school setting or the nursery at their local primary school. Whilst in the Nursery, the children will be assessed to determine whether a referral for an Educational Health and Care Plan is required, if this is not already in place.
Children are offered two full days in the Nursery and a full-time place in the Reception Class, if appropriate, is offered in the school year in which the child’s fifth birthday falls.
All children of statutory school age, and above, must have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health and Care Plan to attend the school.
Children are placed in classes according to their age and some classes may have a mixed age range depending on the numbers in a particular year group. The Primary School day runs from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. with a daily assembly at the end of the day.
